February Events

Friday, February 4th - Winter Nature Hike with Faye Stoner

We will go on another wonderful nature walk with naturalist Faye Stoner. I think this is my favorite of all the hikes we do each year - the woods is a magical place in the winter. We will learn about animal adaptations and seasonal changes - and get practice using our "nature eyes". This will be from 9 - 10 in the morning - be especially prepared for the weather! Hats, warm gloves, boots - all required.

Friday, February 11th - Hands-On Museum and Simple Machines Science Lab

The 1st/2nd graders will visit the Hands-On Museum for exploration, lunch, and a science lab! Please consider joining us - I would love to have at least one or two parents along for the visit. We will explore each floor of the museum, have lunch in the designated area (so pack bag lunches that do not require heating) and then be led in an hour-long lab about simple machines. This will be a wonderful extension of the theme for the month!

Monday, February 14 - Valentine Exchange

As usual, we will exchange valentines with all of our classmates on this day. Homemade valentines are wonderful, but I love those cheesy ones you can buy at the drugstore too! Little treats are also okay, but please make it a non-candy one.

Friday, February 18th - Family Skating Party at Buhr Park

More information will be coming soon about this yearly event - always a good time. Lace up your skates and join us!

Monday, February 21 - Friday, February 24 - No School/Mid-Winter Break

You sure can make this old guy wish he was back in elementary school. Keep up the excellent work Susan.
