Monet-inspired Art

This week we learned and experienced more about individual artists and early art styles. We've also traveled through time to learn about history through the lens of art. We've finally made it to the time of the impressionists - in particular, we learned about the life and art of Monet. One of the things we explored today was the fact that the invention of tubes of paint lent itself to artists being able to travel with their supplies, and painting in nature was much easier.

This afternoon, in the spirit of Monet, we packed our picnic and headed out to one of the most beautiful gardens in Ann Arbor - the Botanical Garden. We sketched for hours, feasted under a shade tree, and returned to school - a little hot, exhausted, but with a greater appreciation of nature and the wonder of art.
