Graham and I were Special Readers on Monday. We took turns reading probably my favorite "hook" for beginner readers - Elephant and Piggie stories. Mo Willems is a genius. Gosh, I hope he isn't a creep in real life. These book seem so simple, yet there is such deft humor in each on that older children and even adults find them laugh-out-loud funny.
We spent some time this week doing spelling-go-round, poetry books, memory page writing, as well as finishing up some last week work like book reviews and medical office certificates. We just started a brand new chapter book, Matilda, by Roald Dahl.
Tuesday was a special day in that we had Ron, Maya's dad, come and set up a medical clinic right here at S-K. It was a wonderful simulation that really got the wheels turning as to what our clinic will look like. We had two other adult experts visit this week - JJ's mom, Lindsey, joined us on Monday to teach us about the nutritional needs for the individual body systems. And this morning Emma's mom, Kelly, showed how muscles work in concert with bones and nerves, even when we are standing or sitting. She had the children moving all around.
EBs started today! This will be the final series of the school year. These are always such a fun little addition to my teach life - I hope your child came home excited about their choice. And of course the Oven Pizza Eaters shone like a million diamonds in their performances on Wednesday and Friday.
