Enjoy this short video of the most recent Potions EB. I wish I had more hands so I could take more pictures and recordings - the excitement and joy that is experienced in each session has been wonderful to be part of.
We made ancient magic wands and fizzy fairy potion this time round. Each EB participant received a wooden dowel and a length of copper wire. They could twist the wire around the dowel and make a design at the end, if they wanted. Then, using a potion made of liver of sulfur (now how's that for a storybook name?) we oxidized the copper to give an old patina. Ask your child to describe the smell.
Then we concocted a LOT of fizzy fairy potion, using our wands to stir. Using some mysterious and not so mysterious materials, our potions fizzed and exploded in a riot of beautiful foamy colors. We mixed, remixed, cleaned up some spills, continued on until our hearts' delight, until it was finally time to use eye droppers to put some special potion into our favorite special fairy potion bottle.
One more session, Friday, February 7.
