Sometimes the anticipation and build up to an event is almost as fun as the event itself. For the past three weeks, children have rushed to the growing candy box to sort, count, and discuss the merits of the different varieties of sweets and decorations. They exchanged ideas about how different food items could be used - Tic Tacs as colored lights, and Tootsie Rolls as logs, perhaps. It became almost unbearable to be around that much candy, and to know that we would soon get to spend a whole morning, cozy in pajamas, making our sugary imaginings come to life. And eat candy with all our buddies!
Finally, finally, the morning arrived. After touring the candy options, we sketched out a possible design plan:
Then we got busy, decorating for almost a full hour. What creativity! The children thought of so many clever ideas - from fire pits, to storage bins.
