Thanks to this fine family, our class got a lovely treat this morning. We traveled to the State Capitol for a special tour. Evan's dad, Adam, is the Assistant Secretary of the Senate, and arranged for a lovely guided tour by the state historian, as well as us getting introduced on the Senate Floor. The Reames family also made arrangements for our group to go to Impression 5, a children's museum, for lunch and fun activities for the afternoon.
Val, the historian, had a magical way of bringing the children into the world of government and history. She was really inspiring.
The building and the artwork are simply amazing. Adam and I were talking about how we are both so lucky - and sometimes take it for granted - to work in a beautiful setting. The capitol is filled with treasures, from the ceilings to what the floors are made of. The portraits, and the stories they tell, are worth the trip.
This picture was taken right after we were introduced on the senate floor. It was kind of a big deal. At the top of the photo we have Adam and Senator Jeff Irwin.
