Our First Spelling-Go-Round!

Today was our first Spelling-Go-Round. Each child had only about 30 minutes this morning to practice, and many acknowledged that extra practice time at home may be necessary. The lists are now located in the cubby areas, and I also attached the Spelling-Go-Round sheets. This is so families could see some of the practice options available this week. This is NOT homework, but just a way for you to see some of the fun ways we practice - feel free to use some of these at home if you think it would be helpful. I switch things up from time to time - shaving cream, writing with chalk outside - lots of active and sensory ways will be used to lock those words in.

Spelling lists are made up of sight words (usually common words that don't follow a rule - you may just have to memorize) and word-family or rule-driven words. Both types of words are important to increase confidence in young readers and writers. In a week or two, I will add "challenge words" for the children - harder words that some may find fun to try.
