Magic and Nature - We Needed Both Today

This morning seemed a good time for some magic.

Using our guide, How to be an Explorer of the World, children were given an official license to create their own reality - permission to have magical thinking and hopeful wishes.



Then we went on a nice long nature walk in the woods. Using the prompt:

Collect objects for their potential magic quality. Attach a story to them, or create a fictitious history about the object.

children found various natural objects - milkweed pods (those do seem magical, don't they?), stones, leaves, and so one. They thought of what magic they could do. Here are two examples:


This ties in nicely with our "Steig Stories", the writers workshop pieces the children have been working so hard at.
