Working Together

Nothing is sweeter to a teacher than to see their children working together, happily, on a common goal. I try to plan lots of these learning opportunities (which is why we do so much group work, project work, and TRIBES), but often I don't need to plan at all.

This morning, when it was a glorious balmy 40 degrees, many of my students decided to make an ice skating rink (in order to play hockey, naturally). This lead to about 30 minutes of scraping and polishing a large section of our wooded area - some children were scrapers, and some were "human Zambonis". It was a joyful and exuberant time that arose naturally, in nature.

Enjoy the long weekend, everyone.
