Looking Forward to February - Mark Your Calendars

Although February is the shortest month of the year, we always have plenty of special activities planned. Take a look, and mark your calendars!

On Monday, February 2nd, Shan is taking the combined 1st/2nd grade classes skating for P.E.

EBs are planned for:

Tuesday, February 3 (9 - 10, no math that day)
Thursday, February 5 (10:30 - 11:30)
Tuesday, February 10 (9 - 10, no math)
Tuesday, February 24 (9 - 10, no math)
Thursday, February 26 (10:30 - 11:30).

Flea Market Math is a special math event now being planned for Monday, February 9. Irma and Flo will be back in action, ready to ring up some sales and do some math. There will be much more information on this soon - so stay tuned!

I guess Irma needs a new wig, as my hair is now the same gray color. Hmmm.

A librarian from the AADL will be doing a follow-up visit to our classroom on Thursday, February 12. There will be no math on this day.

On Friday, February 13th, we will exchange valentines. I will send out an email to all with each child's name. Handmade valentines always appreciated, although I also have a special fondness for those cheesy little ones you can buy. Small treats are fine, but please make them non-food as we have allergies we need to be especially aware of. Children will be decorating collection boxes at school, and I supply the boxes.

Friday, February 13th is also our annual all-school skating party. It is a fine way to celebrate the beginning of mid-winter break. (This picture is of Owen, Maddy, and Ariana, from 2011. My, how they have grown into amazing middle schoolers!)

Mid-Winter Break is Monday, February 16 - Friday, February 20.

The 100th Day of school is currently Tuesday, February 24th. This may change, of course, if we have any more snow or cold days. The past couple of years we have been marking this by having a food drive. Please consider donating a few cans of food for the food bank. We would love to have at least 100 cans to donate. A box will be placed outside our classroom door soon.
