Update on Mealworms

Many children are now proud sponsors/adoptive parents of a pupa! We learned today that typically, a mealworm will be in the pupa stage between 6-18 days. I'm thinking that by Monday we should probably have some darkling beetles running around. Exciting times, indeed!

This morning, we had two different projects going on. The first was to make a mealworm life cycle out of paper (see example) and the other was to fashion all four stages using clay. Each child was successful, and demonstrated a good understanding of the life cycles of the beetle (including being able to articulate why it is a "cycle" and goes around and around and ....)
