Bridge Project with Dr. George

Tuesday is a favorite day of many of my students. This is the day that Dr. George comes to lead them in interesting science-related projects. For the past several Tuesdays, they have been working on their bridge project. It started with days of working with straws and paperclips, testing out many different designs for strength and flexibility. Now we are at the part where they are transferring what they've learned to wood.

The children are sanding, hammering, and sawing. And measuring! So far, we've learned the truth of the adage: Measure twice, cut once!

Here are just a few pictures I snapped this morning, just to give a small glimpse of Science Tuesday.
