This afternoon we continued our study of tools. I showed the students my sewing basket and asked for ideas about what could be inside. Children correctly guessed scissors, needles, pins, thimble, seam ripper, "the tomato thing", and marking chalk! I was surprised at how many tools they could name. I surprised them with a needle threader, pinking shears, and tape measure.
We looked at pictures of other tools that a seamster might use - so many! After matching pictures with names, we got busy with our new sewing project. Each child will make a fabric pouch to hold their meditation pebbles. We aren't quite done, but should be by the end of the week.
