Using Maps
Many children are fascinated with maps. We are using maps and atlases during our current unit as we research the countries and region of North Africa. Today, I thought we would use our growing map skills much closer to home. I found really lovely and detailed maps of the walking trails of County Farm Park. In the classroom, we studied our maps and answered questions using the key and the compass rose - then, armed with our maps, clipboards and pencils, we navigated through the 1.4 mile outer trail. It was a lovely way to take what we've learned and use it in a very real life way. Plus, it was great to be out in nature for a couple of hours on a gorgeous, warm Fall day.
