What do you get when you use a piece of construction paper, a pencil, a milk carton, a string and a little tape? You can build a candy collector! Today, 5 groups of 2 children each did just that. First, I just supplied the raw materials and the children had about 20 minutes to brainstorm and try different things. Next, we took it step by step and built collectors that really work. The first thing we did was to make pinwheels (wheels) and fashioned strings to the pencils (axles). We could then use our own wind power to blow the windmill and make the candy go up the string. Too cool!
