We've been reading a chapter book called, Beatrice Zinker, Upside Down Thinker. This is another new one for me although it's been out for about two years now. The main character has been compared Ramona Quimby and Clementine, both of whom I adore.
Beatrice is certainly an out-of-the-box thinker, and some teachers and children don't always "get" her. However, she is resilient and always optimistic - and wants to remain true to her identity.
And who can resist a child who always dresses in a ninja suit?
