Read to Feed Results

Thank you to all who participated in Read to Feed. By pledging money and listening to your children read to you, we raised over $400.00. That's enough to do a lot of good. So far, the children decided to donated several different animals, including a flock of chickens, a sheep, bees, and ducks! Our gifts will keep on giving, as the offspring of our animals will be given to other families.

The goal of our big project for October was two-fold: to help children practice literacy skills by promoting reading AND to help Heifer Foundation provide livestock to struggling families in all parts of the world. We read and talked about different cultures. Children's eyes were opened to how important it is to use our resources with care, and how food and water should not be taken for granted. Most important, they learn through projects like this that they can make a difference. That is a powerful feeling!
