Every year, we think of something special to celebrate Earth Day. Being a Michigan Green School is something we take pretty seriously around here - we try every day to do the little things, like not wasting paper, using our worm bin for our snack refuse, and picking up the trash we see on the playground. And, of course, we do our special "super hero" projects each and every month. But in April, we join with other schools around the world to participate in Earth Day Groceries Project.
This is how it works. We borrow new grocery bags from a local store (Trader Joe's is our partner in this endeavor), decorate them with a colorful message, and then return them to the story in time for Earth Day. Then, on April 22nd, lucky shoppers may get one of the beautifully decorated bags for their groceries!
If you have a few items to pick up at Trader Joe's this weekend, why not shop on Saturday? You may be one of the lucky ones to have one of these lovely "designer" bags!
