Spelling Lists and Little Siblings

Since doing remote school, all of our ways of doing things have had to change. Routines we established and practiced are no longer useful - at least for the time being. We can still gather for our chapter book read-aloud, but of course it isn't the same doing it over google meet. And so it goes with most everything - we adjust and flexibly fix NEW routines and ways to learn and have fun.

Graham found a way he likes to practice spelling words! He has been sending me his Monday list with each word written out in a sentence. This was Graham's list this week:

Sight Words
feet
off
led
spell
air

Rule Words - final blend ND
blend
sand
offend
bond

Challenge Word
generation

And here are the sentences that Graham was able to make. Do you see a theme developing here?

Lewis  has  very  little  feet
Lewis  is  playing  with  the  light  switch  he  is  turning  it  On  and  off
I  led  Lewis  to  his  toys
L.e.w.i.s.  is  how  you  spell  Lewis
Lewis  is  on  a  plane  he  is  in  the  air
Lewis  has  his  bear  suit  it  blends  into  the  sky
Lewis  likes  to  eat  the  sand
Lewis  would  never  offend  me
Lewis  and  I  have  a  very  strong  bond
Lewis  and  me  have  the  same  generation

Graham has also shared other ways he likes to practice words, like with homemade playdough. Just because he isn't at school-school, doesn't mean he doesn't get to enjoy a bit of spelling-go-round fun!
