Yesterday afternoon, the children were so great about making sure everything was ready. Cereal was strung, popcorn and cranberries were threaded (and some fingers were stabbed in the process), many pine cones were slathered with Crisco and rolled in birdseed, and one extra coat of wax was applied to the bird house gourds. Many, many thanks to Rachel, Alex's mom, for her help. We literally could not have done it without her.
This morning was a huge success, and a lovely end to our raptor study. Our birdie bake sale was very well attended, and we sold out of everything in record time. Apologies to those who came too late - next year, we will try to make even more!

After, we counted the money, and guess what? We raised enough to sponsor not one, but TWO raptors! Which is great news, because there was a tie. We will proudly sponsor:
This beautiful red tailed hawk
AND
The adorable eastern screech owl!
