Cookie Cottages - Wish List for Decorations

As you know, December is a month for sharing traditions in our classroom. We are anticipating some fun shared experiences that bring in cultural and family customs, thanks to our first and second graders and their families. More on these as they get scheduled.

Possibly my FAVORITE winter holiday tradition to share with people I love is decorating houses made from graham crackers. I've done this every year for 25 years - that is a lot of houses! Now, Tate and I will share this tradition again with each child on the last day before Winter Break, Friday, December 20th.

A sweet scene from last year - so cozy!
We will provide one house for each child, plus lots and lots of white frosting to be used as glue. These houses will be decorated during the morning and then taken home at 11:30 to be enjoyed as centerpieces for your table.
In the next several week, please consider contributing a bag or two of candies to be used as decorations. I've listed a few candies that have worked really well in the past. Please remember that S-K is a nut-aware school even when decorating with candy - no chocolate ever, and please check labels carefully.
