This Week in Review - February 4 - 8

This information also found in Walter weekly update:

Our final week before mid-winter break was filled with special events as well as finishing up some l
oose ends. In the “loose ends” category, we finished our winter acrostic poems as well as framing our
winter self portraits. The frames were done by sponge painting one day, and then adding small
hand-crafted coffee filter snowflake decorations on another.

We finished our current chapter book, George’s Marvelous Medicine. Since I had several copies,
some children decided it would be fun to follow along with me while I read.
Evan and Kalyan were our special readers this week, and both did a really nice job. We also had our
usual spelling-go-round activity on Monday, and illustrated a special valentine poem. Bec, Logan’s
mom, came in on Monday to read stories as part of our wonderful library time. She had two great
selections - both related to our current theme of nature mythology. Bec promised to return most
Mondays with more picture books, felt board tales, and puppets - as well as helping us find and
check out books.

Special activities this week included the very successful book swap, our second session of EBs,
a skating party at Buhr Park, and a Valentine exchange. Whew! What happy and tired children we
have! See you all in a week - stay warm!
