Field trips are an incredibly important part of our philosophy at Summers-Knoll. I know our students are often shocked to learn that at some schools going outside the school gates is a rare treat - happening perhaps once or twice a year. Here, we believe field trips are central to each child's learning, and enrich our projects and themes. We are so lucky to live in a vibrant city, and want to take advantage of all it has to offer!
With that in mind, please note September's very busy schedule. There is even a field trip the very first week!
Friday, September 7: Jo Ann Fabric Store 9:00a.m.
This annual trip is a special one. Children get to select their own fuzzy fabric in order to sew the reading pillows they will use all year!
* Jen and Ron R. will help with field trip and general chaos control. Caroline, Stacy, and Jackson's grandma, Dawn, will also help with hand and machine sewing - thank you!
Monday, September 10: Sweet Acres Berry Patch 1:30p.m.
This will be our second year going to this very special place in Ypsilanti. We each get to pick a pint of raspberries AND some gorgeous dahlias to take home.
Friday, September 14: Howell Nature Center
This all-day annual trip is always a sweet bonding event, and so much fun. This year, we will do a mix of nature studies (raptors, pond study) and sports/team-building (fishing and zipline).
* check in with Karen B. for volunteer opportunities!
Tuesday, September 25th: Toledo Art Museum - the Rebecca Louise Law Installation
This is a very special exhibit that fits our theme of Nature Exploration perfectly. We will also visit other rooms, and have lunch on site.
* thanks to Jen and Ron R, Stacy, Caroline, Jennifer L, and Finley's grandma, Ivie, for volunteering!
