Special Library Time - and Voting for Excellent Books

Our librarian, Rachel, had some exciting news for us today. She would be reading two special picture books to us today, and two more next week. These four books are finalists for a special award that is given each year, called the Irma Black award, and we would get a chance to vote after hearing all four books! Here is a little more about the award, taken right from the Bank Street College’s website (Grace’s alma mater!):

The Irma Simonton Black and James H. Black Award for Excellence in Children's Literature (Irma Black Award) goes to an outstanding book for young children - a book in which text and illustrations are inseparable, each enhancing and enlarging on the other to produce a singular whole. The Irma Black Award is unusual in that children are the final judges of the winning book. The next award will be presented on May 10, 2018 at Bank Street College.

The two we heard today were Sparkle Boy and After the Fall.
