There has been a huge amount of research in the past few years about the importance of teaching young children meditation techniques, or mindfulness. We start every morning (except Friday) with 5-10 minutes of mindful sitting. I have a couple of different CDs I use, and they vary in length and message. It is probably the sweetest part of the day, especially when parents join us.
The gentle breathing and guided meditation helps us all start the day in a centered and gentle way. Please be aware that the door closes promptly at 8:45, and tardy children are not to enter until the door reopens.
