Poem in Pocket Day - Join Us April 21st

This year, Thursday, April 21st, is Poem in Pocket Day - always one of my favorite days of the year. Please help your child pick out a great poem to read aloud on that day. Copy it, or write it down, and tuck it in a pocket. We will take turns throughout the day to share our favorites with each other. The students are no slouches when it comes to reciting poetry - we do it every week!

If YOU would agree to come in a read a favorite poem to the children, that would make the day even more special! We have the last period of the day available (from 2:40 - 3:30). I'll make a couple pots of tea! It was a wonderful event last year - please consider coming in. If you would like to bring a treat to share, feel free (but I will supply "safe" cookies for everyone).

Keep A Poem In Your Pocket
By Beatrice Schenk de Regniers

Keep a poem in your pocket
And a picture in your head
And you'll never feel lonely
At night when you're in bed.

The little poem will sing to you
The little picture bring to you
A dozen dreams to dance to you
At night when you're in bed.

So - -
Keep a picture in your pocket
And a poem in your head
And you'll never feel lonely
At night when you're in bed.
