Spring Cleaning - Environmental Super Hero Project for March

Our young environmental warriors did a lot of wonderful work today - you probably noticed it as you came in at pick-up time. The school smells and looks a little bit cleaner, thanks to the efforts of these children.

This morning, each student received their work apron. These they decorated with non-toxic fabric markers with an environmental note or picture. This afternoon, they followed a recipe to make a "green" cleaning solution (recipe follows). Then we got busy, cleaning not only our desks and chairs, but also the dining room tables and all of those (icky) chairs. We also wiped down the kitchen cabinets, as well as some parts of Joanna's office.

Each child got to take home a bottle of their homemade solution and their own apron. Please! Keep them busy! These guys can make your house smell sweet and clean in no time.

Here's the recipe we used today (honestly, I just made it up):

1/2 cup white vinegar
10-15 drops essential oils (we had orange, lavender, lemon, peppermint, or spearmint)
a few drops tea tree oil
a few drops of Dr. Bronner's liquid castile soap
lots of warm/hot water - enough to fill up our sprayers
