A Rainy Day Walk

We finally had the opportunity to try out our sweet new umbrellas this morning! It makes walking and playing (and singing) in the rain so much fun.

Let the rain kiss you.
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops.
Let the rain sing you a lullaby.
The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk.
The rain makes running pools in the gutter.
The rain plays a little sleep-song on our roof at night -
And I love the rain.
- Langston Hughes (1902-1967).

As you can see, some of the children had rather unusual ways of holding their umbrellas, and some didn't use them at all. The rain was so lovely and warm, it didn't really matter. Walking in the rain is a delight with children - the world smells and looks and feels different and alive.
