We started a new chapter book this morning. Each child received their very own copy of
The Year of the Book by Andrea Cheng. I read it aloud as the students follow along in their own books. At the end of each chapter, we hold an informal discussion. Since it is written for slightly older children, it is important that I check in for comprehension.
I think this book is perfect for this month. In it, the main character is at a delicate time in her life, and is straddling several different worlds. She is a strong female character who is searching for her identity, and working through the often confusing world of friendships. You can read more about it by clicking
