Environmental Super Heroes!

For the past several years my class has done special monthly projects with an environmental focus. As a Michigan Green School, we already do much to maintain this status, but there is always more to be done. In the classroom, we do everyday things like recycling, using both sides of the paper, and keeping the playground litter-free - but we like to kick it up a notch by doing special activities each month. Because of this, our class is proud to be considered environmental super heroes!

Families who were with me last year will recognize some of these, and some are new. If you have an idea for a future superhero project, let me know!

September - Start new vermicomposting station

October - Trick or Treat reusable bags (from old pillowcases)

November - Field trip to MRF - Materials Recovery Facility

December - Bake sale for the Birdies - proceeds to be used to sponsor a raptor at LSNC

January - Vegan baking project and snow ice cream (if weather cooperates)

February - Birdseed valentines for our winged friends on the playground

March - Make "green" cleaning solution and do some spring cleaning

April - Special Earth Day project

May - Harvest worm castings and plant seeds
