Poem in Pocket Day - Thursday, April 18th

Please help your child pick out a great poem to read on Thursday, April 18th. Copy it, or write it down, and tuck it in a pocket. We will take turns reading throughout the day!

REMEMBER - If YOU would agree to come in a read a favorite poem to the children, that would make the day even more special! We can share during the last hour of school. Can I bribe you with tea and cookies?

Finally, be sure to click on the video of Andrew reading the poem out of his poetry anthology today. Each week, we practice reading a poem. Some children try to memorize them, but that is not required. We do our best to illustrate each one so we will have a beautiful book to take home at the end of the year. Enjoy! Andrew is reading "Yellow" by David McCord.

Keep A Poem In Your Pocket
By Beatrice Schenk de Regniers

Keep a poem in your pocket
And a picture in your head
And you'll never feel lonely
At night when you're in bed.

The little poem will sing to you
The little picture bring to you
A dozen dreams to dance to you
At night when you're in bed.

So - -
Keep a picture in your pocket
And a poem in your head
And you'll never feel lonely
At night when you're in bed.
