Looking Forward to October

In October, we will shift from Farm to Table to Genre Studies. If I had to choose a favorite genre for children, it would be folktales. I am going to narrow this focus to a specific type of folktale - Southern Appalachian folktales (with an emphasis on "Jack Tales"). This is an oral tradition - these stories have been passed down from generation to generation. Therefore, while I will still be reading stories, I will be telling stories as well. Children will get to try their hand at oral storytelling - it should be a great month!

We have a couple of special events coming this month as well:

October 4 - AADL visit in the afternoon

October 11 - Zen Buddhist Temple visit in the afternoon

October 12 - Our annual nature walk with Faye Stoner

October 19 - Wild Swan Theater to see Frog and Toad

October 31 - Eco-Fair and Feast (details to follow SOON!)
