A Map of One of My Favorite Places. Recognize it? |
We've had a lovely start to our month of maps. Today at morning meeting, I had the school community tell me some of the different kinds of maps there are. Children mentioned street maps, maps of theme parks, maps of zoos, floor plans and pirate treasure maps. One of Elaine's students said that they had made a map of their families in class! I then read our poem of the week, aptly named Maps.
High adventure
And bright dream--
Maps are mightier
Than the seem:
Ships that follow
Leaning stars--
Red and gold of
Strange bazaars --
Ice floes hid
Beyond all knowing--
Planes that ride where
Winds are blowing!
Train maps, maps of
Wind and weather,
Road maps-take
Altogether
Maps are really
Magic wands
For home-staying
Vagabonds!
Also, please enjoy this video I found - I love it. And, if you haven't had a chance to check out the video on Chris's blog, please do so - quite amazing and inspiring.

This was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed your video and Jerry was a very interesting character and I learned things about maps I didn't know. Very good post.
Oh, yay, the Hundred Acre Wood :)
