Butterfly Release/Afternoon at Botanical Gardens

It was a lovely and very warm afternoon at the botanical gardens. We packed a picnic snack and piled in the buses, along with Elaine's class. Once there, we had a long walk to the prairie garden. Unfortunately, spring is not exactly the best time to visit such a garden, since it was pretty flat and stubby. Maybe a return trip next fall is in order!

While we were in the prairie area, we released our butterflies. All 10 emerged nice and healthy from their chrysalises. The children said some lovely parting words, and then we all watched with grateful and happy hearts as they - one by one - rose up to the sky.

After long cool drinks of water, our snack, and some relaxing, we boarded the bus for the ride back to school.
