Parts of Speech and Punctuation

As you know, we start each day in the 1st/2nd grade classroom with a mystery message. We will continue to do so, but starting today there will be a little grammar lesson tucked inside. We will be learning the parts of speech and punctuation! As an example, today's mystery message looks like this (I wonder if any of YOU can solve it?):

T_ _  p _ _ _ _ _  i _  j _ _ _  a  d _ _
F _ _ _ _  s _ _ _ ing  i _  i _ _ _  f _ _ _ _ _ _ _  s _ _ _.
W _ _ _  a  s _ _ _ _ _ _ _  e _ _ _,  i _ c _ _ _ _  a _ _  p _ _ _ _,
A _ _  w _ _ _ _  i_  p_ _ _ _, t_ _  s _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ STOPS.

The kids will be given a couple of clues. This mystery message is a poem about a punctuation mark, and each line rhymes with the final word (stops).

Let me just say that I am impressed with any student you have that came up with the solution quickly to this one. So far I have figured out the first half but struggling on the second.
I love the level of learning your children experience.
