Spring Nature Hike with "our" Faye

Faye Stoner is one amazing woman. Three times a year, for many years now, she has met us in our woods to help us explore the wonders it holds. The way she talks with the children, and the natural way she weaves every one of their names and ideas into what she is saying makes her a true role model for me.

Today, we saw about 5 or 6 different Michigan wildflowers. We also saw lots of fungi and so many slugs and toads. It was a pretty slimy visit. We also pulled a lot of Garlic Mustard, which is an invasive species that threatens to take over much of the ground. Not on our watch, however!

This year, we saw our beautiful County Farm Park for three of the four seasons. I wonder how many of the children will visit it during the summer as well?
