HOMEWORK: Draw Your Bedroom to Scale

Due: Tuesday, February 16

Your child should have come home yesterday with a project to be done at home with your help. We have just started practicing the architect's skill of drawing things to scale. We practiced doing scale drawings of our chalkboard, desks, etc.

For homework, I’d like for each student to measure the length and width of his or her bedroom (in feet). Then have him/her measure at least two pieces of furniture (like bed and dresser) in feet. Windows and doors can also be included. Write measurements on paper.

Then, using a scale of one inch to one foot, students should draw their bedroom to scale on the 1/4-in graph paper I provided. As this is a brand new concept to most of the children, most will definitely need your guidance.
