Children had a great time at Flea Market Math this afternoon, plus got great practice adding money, making change, and making decisions. I know they were excited to bring their bulging shopping bags home and to share all the great "deals" with their families.
I love Flea Market because it tends to bring out real sweetness in the children. I witnessed children buying things with siblings or others in mind, and lovely trades happening afterwards. One student made sure I ended up with the McDonald's toy I had my eye on. And the leftover change from most everyone was put in the Humane Society collection jar.
