January's Theme - Kitchen chemistry
Kitchen chemistry month is just around the corner, and I have many ideas swirling around my brain. For instance, what better way to learn the properties of yeast than to make pretzels? Here are just a few more possibilities on what the month may bring:
• Salsa making to check for acids and bases
• Popcorn experiment to teach scientific method and variables
• Ice cream making to teach freezing point
• Making eggs bounce!
Hiromi and Clay have also mentioned making Orange Zippy soda with the kids – how great is that?
So, get ready for an exciting (dare I say “explosive?”) month of science fun!
