What Can You Do With A Paper Bag? A LOT!

This afternoon was a time for creativity to shine. In preparation for our "Homemade Halloween/Eco-Fair" on Wednesday, Grace and I wanted to assure children that even if they didn't have a costume made yet, it didn't need to be a stressful situation! With just a few materials and about 40 minutes time (and some wonderful imagination, which these children certainly have!) a fun costume could be made and worn with pride.

We read The Paper Bag Princess to start, a great story by Robert Munsch - and admired the princess's make-do outfit after the dragon burned her princess dress beyond repair. Then I showed some of the great wigs, hats, masks, and other items from this book:

After a quick tutorial on how to start a quick vest (or shirt), the children were ready to go. We had all sorts of craft materials to use: sticky things from The Scrap Box, markers, pipe cleaners, ribbons, tape, and lots and lots of embellishments.

Here are just a few pictures - aren't they terrific?
