For the past several days, ever since the biggest snow storm of the year, bands of children have been working tirelessly on building a huge snow fort. This has been lovely to witness. What are children learning when they do such a thing?
* Teamwork
* Cooperation
* Science/Engineering
* Math
I overheard children talking about the possibility of pouring water over the structure in order to make it freeze up and become hard, and how to better their initial designs. I noticed children working in a very organized way, like an assembly line, in order to most efficiently use their time. Mostly, I've seen very happy children, joyful in their work, and loving the camaraderie inherent in such an enterprise.
