This month, as most of you know, is "Book Journeys" month. We will be taking a lot of journeys with the characters in books. Edward Tulane, our china rabbit who has a lot to learn about life and love, is just about to board the Queen Mary, and thus begin his long and arduous trip.
Travel is a wonderful way to learn about the world, and about yourself. I've asked several children who went on exciting adventures over winter break to bring in a map and share with their classmates. Today, Ben brought in a lovely map made by his father, which details a pretty amazing trip:
Ben's classmates loved to look at the map, and ponder how many hours it took to travel such a long way. We will be looking at, reading, and making a variety of maps in our class over the next couple months, to learn more about cities, countries, and continents.
