Sweet Scenes of Buddy Reading

Every day, right after lunch, we have a "Quiet Reading" time. Some of that time is spent with children making their own selections and reading silently to themselves. I also use this time to read one-on-one with students, with books I've picked out that I feel are "just right".

After a while, it is time for "Buddy Reading". While some children choose to continue reading by themselves, most are eager for a chance to cuddle and read with a friend. It is very sweet to see. Stronger readers patiently read to or with more hesitant readers, and interests are shared in an excited way.

Yesterday afternoon, I tried to capture some of these scenes. It is our favorite time of day, and you can probably see why.
