Writing Workshop Update - The Maps of our Hearts

One of the books we read recently was called My Map Book by Sara Fanelli. In it were 12 gorgeous "maps" of a child's world - including the above map, which is a map of a heart.

We extended this idea and made an idea chart for future writing workshop pieces - they look something like this:

As you can see, we color-coded our hearts to represent different things that are dear to us - people we love, places we've gone, favorite memories, and hobbies. Now when it is writing time, we find our completed hearts in our workshop folders and have plenty of topics to write about.
