We began by joining together in a whole-school meeting. Joanna had all of us (about 100 people) join hands and pass along good wishes, from person to person. Then the administration team had cups of hot chocolate for all.
After, we spent some time with our other 1st and 2nd grade buddies as Elaine read a chapter from Winnie the Pooh. The students were very cozy on their pillows, and seemed to need this gentle and quiet time. (I used this opportunity to sneak out and get everything ready - the cottages, tubs of frosting in white, red, and green, decorating implements, and lots and lots and lots of CANDY.
Finally, it was time to decorate the cottages. Wow! The results were spectacular!
