This morning I needed to share some sad news with the children. One of our three hermit crabs was found dead in the cage. I told students that I knew yesterday things were not looking good, as the hermit crab was without his shell. This is usually a bad sign. (Indeed, the smell of the crab this morning was another bad sign.)
At recess, several children dug a deep hole and the hermit crab was buried. A few sweet words were spoken. Ava made a lovely RIP sign with sticks. All natural, and quite lovely.
